Commitment to First Nations People

Asset 5.jpg

The organisation acknowledges that these lands always were, and always will be, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands. We pay respect to the traditional custodians and the Elders within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in which we live and work.

We believe that traditional culture, cultural safety, and community collaboration are central to the healing and empowerment process in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Families should be consulted, heard and be a part of decision-making processes.

It is fundamental that, where possible, quality services delivered for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We believe that cultural issues and practices should be informed by local Elders and knowledge-holders from the relevant local community.

Strive is devoted to working towards generational safety and health, and self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to remedy systemic discrimination and disadvantage as an ongoing result of colonisation.
